Dough Ingredients:

  • 20 g yeast
  • 200 ml warm milk
  • 1.5 tbsp sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 100 g butter (melted)
  • 500 g flour
  • 1 tsp salt

Filling Ingredients:

  • 300 g cabbage (finely shredded)
  • 200 g carrot (grated)
  • 2 large onions (chopped)
  • 1 large tomato (grated)
  • 2 sweet red peppers (chopped)
  • Salt & pepper to taste

🥧 Easy Step-by-Step

Yeast Starter:

Mix warm milk, yeast, 1 tbsp sugar, and a little flour. Leave for 30 minutes.

Dough:

Add melted butter, eggs, salt, and the rest of the sugar. Gradually mix in the remaining flour until smooth. Let rise for 1.5 hours.

Filling:

Salt onions, then add peppers and grated carrot. Cook until soft. Add cabbage and salt, cook under lid. Stir in grated tomato, season, and cook a few more minutes.

Assemble Pie:

Divide dough into 2 parts (one larger). Roll out the larger piece and place it in a greased baking dish, adding the filling. Cover with strips or lattice from the smaller piece. Brush with egg yolk and sprinkle sesame seeds if desired.

Bake:

Let rest for 20 minutes, then bake for 40–50 minutes at 175°C. Cool slightly before serving.
